Sgt. Braxton Gomez, from Belgrade, Montana, slowly sinks to the bottom of a 13-foot pool before propelling himself to the surface for another breathe Nov. 18 during a pre-combatant diver course at Camp Schwab. This is one of the many techniques that Marines were taught to control themselves underwater during the training that prepares them for the Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course. Gomez is a reconnaissance man with Company A, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Devon Tindle/Released)
