Lance Cpl. Hayden Schuljak, from Crestline, California, carries his gear ashore after swimming 4,000 meters Nov. 18 during a pre-combatant diver course at Camp Schwab. Schuljak was the first Marine to complete the open water exercise. This is one of the many techniques that Marines were taught during the training that prepared them for The Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course. This type of training ensures that when a Marine Expeditionary Unit needs stealthy beach raiding capabilities, the Recon Marines are ready. Schuljak is a reconnaissance man with Company A, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Devon Tindle/Released)
