Members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Special Weapons Protection Unit demonstrate reconnaissance techniques in a simulated contaminated zone Dec. 1 at Camp Naha. Reconnaissance was the first step, followed by casualty packaging and extracting, and finally an area decontamination was completed in the simulated contamination zone. The demonstration showed U.S. Marines with a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense background how the JGSDF Nuclear Biological Chemical Unit, 15th Brigade, executes their operations.
