First Sgt. Jason Hall, senior enlisted leader of Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment “Battle Boars,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, briefs Soldiers what the Army 2020 Physical Demands Study is, and the train-up associated with the PDS that the Dragons have been spearheading. The intent of the PDS is that 2nd ABCT in conjunction with U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, will conduct a thorough evaluation of Soldiers conducting various combat arms associated tasks, gathering as much data as possible, hopefully allowing the Army to develop ‘gender neutral physical standards.’ These validated standards are intended to shape future recruiting and accessions of both males and females into the evaluated Military Occupational Specialties. This is the first day that the entire group has been in one room, and as you can see by the layout of seating, the Soldiers started out with an immediate challenge, to integrate with each other in regards to gender, and work together, rather than sit on opposite ends of a room.
