Col. Scott Jackson, commander, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, pins an award on the chest of Sgt. 1st Class William O’Neal, platoon sergeant for Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment “Battle Boars,” 2nd ABCT here at the Marne Gardens, March 24. O’Neal, along with 35 other Soldiers, was recognized for his contributions to the recently completed Army 2020 Physical Demands Study, a study that the Dragons spearheaded for the 2nd ABCT, in conjunction with U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. The study’s purpose was to conduct a thorough evaluation, gathering as much scientific data as possible on what it takes to accomplish certain physically demanding tasks deemed inherent to four different combat military occupation specialties. The intent is to hopefully allow the Army to develop "gender neutral physical standards." These validated standards are intended to shape future recruiting and accessions of both males and females into the evaluated MOSs. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt.
