Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 board a CH-53E Super Stallion as they prepare for takeoff Jan. 14 during exercise Lava Viper 15-1.2 at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii. The CH-53E Super Stallion is the largest and heaviest lift helicopter in the Marine Corps. Two CH-53Es flew on a simulated air mission. The training improves the aerial gunners’ ability to engage targets and coordinate fire between two aircraft. The aircraft is from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Robert Williams Jr./Released)
