Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 board a CH-53E Super Stallion as they prepare for takeoff Jan. 14 during exercise Lava Viper 15-1.2 at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii. The CH-53E Super Stallion is the largest and heaviest lift helicopter in the Marine Corps. Two CH-53Es flew on a simulated air mission. The training improves the aerial gunners’ ability to engage targets and coordinate fire between two aircraft.
