Sailors haul in a phone and distance line on the forecastle of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) flagship USS Vicksburg (CG 69) as the ship prepares to receive fuel from German oil tanker Spessart (A 1442) during a replenishment at sea. Spessart recently joined SNMG2 to provide regular refueling support. SNMG2 is a multinational, integrated maritime force made up of vessels from various allied countries whose mission is to ensure the safety and security of allied waterways and provide a unified presence to deter terrorist activity in the region.
