Kirkuk native, Jhaofrun Ali, locates his family member's tombstone during his visit to the Sultan Saqi cemetery, May 27. Iraqi and U.S. Air Force commanders welcomed community and religious leaders, and family of the deceased buried here, to a Sultan Saqi shrine restoration ceremony as a goodwill gesture. Jhaofrun, whose aunt and grandmother are buried in the cemetery, has not been allowed to visit since his childhood. For some Iraqis, this was the first visit to the cemetery and shrine since the 1970s when former Iraqi base leaders expanded the installation and encompassed the cemetery and surrounding community.
