The helicopters were used by the 2nd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, from Fort Bliss, Texas, in support of Operation United Assistance. As the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance mission draws to an end, service members and equipment are steadily making their way back to the U.S. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, medical training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for the International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
