Soldiers with the 2nd Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, from Fort Bliss, Texas, tow a CH-47 Chinook helicopter onto the Cape Race, which birthed at the Liberian National Port Authority’s Port of Buchanan, Buchanan, Liberia, Feb. 16, 2015. As the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance mission draws to an end, service members and equipment are steadily making their way back to the U.S. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, medical training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for the International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
