SAN DIEGO (Feb. 25, 2015) The amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) pulls in to port after completing a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations. During the deployment, the ARG transited nearly 35,000 nautical miles and conducted air strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
