Lt. Col. Taavi Laanepere, head chaplain of the Estonian Defense Forces, presents a commemorative plate that reads, “The Chaplaincy Service of Estonian Defense Forces,” to Capt. Kenneth D. Gillespie, a U.S. chaplain assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, March 4, 2015, in Alu, Estonia. Chaplains from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and the U.S. came together for the Chaplains Baltic Cooperation Exercise, a weeklong conference between NATO allies held as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. U.S. Army troopers from 3rd, Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment are deployed to training locations in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to train with host nation forces in an effort to demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO and improve allied interoperability.
