Sam Carnes and a member of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force unload humanitarian assistance and disaster relief supplies from a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter launched from the flight deck of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2).
