Approximately 44 members of the Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing were greeted by friends and loved ones when they returned home from a six-month deployment to the Horn of Africa, April 7. The Guardsmen deployed to Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom last November, where they served as part of the 81st Expeditionary Rescue Squadron. Their mission was to provide personnel recovery capabilities in the region, including combat search and rescue, casualty evacuation and non-combatant evacuation operations.
