A scout sniper candidate with Scout Sniper Platoon, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment looks through his viewing optic while conducting an observation lane exercise, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 14, 2015. The observation lane exercise had Marines searching for 12 items with a time limit of 60 minutes, with the aid of viewing optics. The candidates went through a two week Scout Sniper Basic Course Preparation Course to learn the fundamentals of becoming a scout sniper and to begin building the necessary skills needed to attend the Scout Sniper Basic Course.
