Alec Jones, a scout sniper candidate with Scout Sniper Platoon, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment annotates where he found a target indicator during an observation lane exercise, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 14, 2015. The observation lane exercise had Marines searching for 12 items with a time limit of 60 minutes, with the aid of viewing optics. The candidates went through a two-week Scout Sniper Basic Course Preparation Course to learn the fundamentals of what it means to be a scout sniper and to begin building the necessary skills needed to attend the Scout Sniper Basic Course.
