An Iraqi army soldier guards the gate at a propane station as citizens wait anxiously to purchase propane. Residents of the small town were allowed two tanks of propane per person from a rare shipment of more than 1,500 tanks of propane, which was secured by Sheik Saeed Jassim, the mayor of Tarmiyah. Citizens are normally rationed three tanks per month, but due to recent losses of propane to the black market, supplies have been limited. Citizens rely heavily on the propane for use in heating and cooking.
