Two Sherpa 1200 series parachute systems sit at the head of the line on the flight line at Al Asad, Iraq, April 13, while other parachute systems are piled in behind them for the night's airdrop. The Sherpa has the ability to guide itself to the drop zone using the Global Positioning System. It can reach within 100 yards of the targeted drop zone, while carrying up to 2,200 pounds and being dropped from nearly 15 miles away.
