The focal point of the Gold Star Family breakfast was the Missing Man Table. The breakfast was hosted by Macy's in the Walnut Room, Chicago, May 23. The Missing Man Table is a semi-official place of honor during a ceremonial meal of the U.S. Armed Forces in memory of fallen, missing or imprisoned military service-members. The table serves as the focal point of ceremonial remembrance, originally growing out of U.S. concern of the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue. The largest Memorial Day Parade in the nation is held in Chicago, and is held every year on the Saturday before Memorial Day. The ceremony is to commemorate those lost to combat during all war campaigns. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Carrie A. Castillo)
