Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadets from the Chicago Public Schools carry the wreaths to the Eternal Flame during a ceremony at Daley Plaza, Chicago, May 23. Since 1870, Memorial Day parades have graced the streets of Chicago. The largest Memorial Day Parade in the nation is held in Chicago and is held every year on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Prior to the parade, a breakfast at Macy's on State Street was held for the Gold Star Families, followed by a wreath laying ceremony in Daley Plaza. The ceremony is held to commemorate those lost to combat during all war campaigns. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Carrie A. Castillo)
