Col. Gary M. Bowman, U.S. Army Center of Military History deputy commander, meets with Col. Maxine C. Girard, U.S. Army Central Area Support Group Qatar commander, at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, Aug. 23. Bowman, an Army historian, traveled to U.S. military installations in Kuwait and Qatar, as part of a research project outlining USARCENT activities during the Global War on Terrorism. "The purpose is for the Army to learn how they overcame challenges while providing manning, equipping and training support for Central Command in a long war," said Bowman. "We produce the official history for all major Army operations."
