NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (June 5, 2015)—A 16,000-pound sled lands in the James River, following a successful launch from Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford’s Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS). Ford completed two successful “dead-load” tests on the initial test day; testing will continue over the next several weeks.
