(June 12, 2015) Sonar Technician (Submarine) 1st Class Chad Nivens, assigned to Trident Training Facility Bangor, walks the remains of a U.S. flag to a fire during a flag retirement ceremony at Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor. The traditional method is to cut the flag into pieces separating the 13 stripes from the canton and incinerating them separately in a respectful manner.
