A Landing Craft, Air Cushion prepares to dock with the USS Nassau in order to demonstrate the flexibility of the Marine Expeditionary Unit to members of a Quadrennial Defense Review panel touring Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 28, 2009. The craft is able to rapidly disembark from the ship and transport personnel and equipment to and from shore, allowing a commander to react swiftly and decisively to a changing situation. The QDR panel's visit to II MEF was to provide its members with an overview of Marine Corps amphibious capabilities and irregular warfare training.
