    26th Marine Expeditionary Unit

Lance Cpl. Philip J. Wall, an assaultman with Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), secures and activates a compressed melting unit (CMU) to melt plastic garbage during an Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise (ARG/MEU-Ex) aboard the USS Kearsarge, June 23, 2015. CMUs melt and compress the plastic into round discs that are stored until they can be disposed of at a port location. The 26th MEU and Amphibious Squadron 4 are conducting an ARG/MEU-Ex in preparation for their deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility later this year.
