ARABIAN SEA (June 24, 2015) U.S. Marine Cpl. Ryan Jackson, middle, teaches his students how to set up a sparring match during a Martial Arts Instructor Course aboard the USS Anchorage (LPD 23). Jackson is a rifleman and a martial arts instructor trainer with Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The students are going through the rigorous course in order to become MCMAP instructors for their respective units. Anchorage is part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group, and, with the embarked 15th MEU, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
