Lt. Cmdr. Adam Burkley departs as the new commanding officer of Maritime Safety and Security Team New York during a change of command ceremony in Staten Island, N.Y., July 10, 2015. Lt. Cmdr. Jordan Baldueza, who took command of MSST New York in July of 2012, was relieved of his duties and responsibilities by Burkley. The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition that formally restates the continuity of command. It is performed before an assembled crew to confirm to each member that although the authority of command is relinquished by one leader and assumed by another, it is still maintained without interruption.
