150307-N-YM718-006 NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (March 7, 2015) – Gunner’s Mate Seaman (SW) Nils Edvardsen, a native of Point Pleasant, N.J., assigned to the Weapons Department aboard the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), supervises sailors as they fire the M4 rifle during a qualification course on the flight deck. Weapon qualifications are integral to anti-terrorism/force protection posture which deters aggression and prepares sailors to respond if deterrence fails. #BeReady Emory S.
