(July 17, 2015) -- Electronics Technician 2nd Class Christopher Neeper, an Albemarle, N.C., native assigned to USS Nebraska (SSBN 739), received the American Legion Department of Washington’s Spirit of Service Award (SOSA) during a ceremony at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park. Service members representing the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard were awarded the SOSA as outstanding military professionals who are actively engaged in the community through volunteer projects; each of the armed forces provided a senior enlisted escorts to be honored at the inaugural banquet Service to America Banquet Salute to Armed Forces and Law and Order.
