U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Miranda Hernandez, a combat engineer with the 271st Marine Wing Support Squadron, out of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., sifts dirt for use in creating mortar which will be used to construct the walls for the pump house at the well site in Honduras Aguan, Honduras, July 23, 2015. The pump house is an additional project the team was able to work on after completing their main project, the new two-classroom Gabriela Mistral schoolhouse in Ocotes Alto, Honduras, as part of the New Horizons Honduras 2015 training exercise. New Horizons was launched in the 1980s and is an annual joint humanitarian assistance exercise that U.S. Southern Command conducts with a partner nation in Central America, South America or the Caribbean. The exercise improves joint training readiness of U.S. and partner nation civil engineers, medical professionals and support personnel through humanitarian assistance activities.
