Senior Airman Derrick Farr, 727th Expeditionary Air Control Squadron, performs surveillance and identification procedures with the tactical air traffic in the skies over Iraq May 15, 2006. Balad Air Base controls over 200,000 square miles of air space over Iraq. The airfield is the busiest single runway airfield in the Department of Defense, merging combat and non-combat aircraft into the same airspace. Senior Airman Farr is an Air National guardsman deployed here from Savannah, Ga.
