Third time was a charm ... as Capt. Christopher Quarles addressed his staff for the last time as he handed over responsibility as commanding officer of Naval Hospital Bremerton to Capt. David K. Weiss on Aug. 14, 2015, it marked more than the traditional change of command. It also signaled a successful completion of Quarles' third tenure assigned to NHB. During Quarles' tenure, the military treatment facility directed a series of visible changes that included the conversion of the Emergency Room to a capable Urgent Care Center (UCC), the closing of the Intensive Care Unit and the current phasing out of the Puget Sound Family Medicine Graduate Medical Education program. These changes were all part of a Navy Medicine project to match and/or improve clinical services to patient demand for all national military treatment facilities.
