    Idaho Army National Guard Col. Russell D. Johnson (center), commander of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team (CBCT), addresses the battalion commanders and staff during a daily synchronization meeting at the Rotational Unit Bivouac Area (RUBA) at Fort Irwin, Calif., Aug. 12. The 116th CBCT is comprised of eight battalions from Idaho, Oregon, and Montana, and an attached battalion from Arkansas for their annual training cycle at the National Training Center. This training cycle is the first force-on-force, high-intensity conflict rotation the National Guard has participated in since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, and is composed of more than 5,200 Soldiers from 11 states’ National Guard units, the U.S. Army Reserve, and active duty U.S. Army Soldiers.
