Senior Trooper Lara Korson speaks with Zachary Gilland, a Marine, and his spouse Lauren Barnard about opportunities with the Virginia State Police during the Hiring Our Heroes Employment Workshop and Networking Reception, at the Office of the Chief, Army Reserve on Fort Belvoir, Aug. 18. The event was open to service members, veterans, and military spouses. The Army Reserve, co-sponsor of the event, is uniquely positioned to help transitioning Soldiers with its long history of translating military training and skills into a language the civilian workforce can understand. This includes highlighting Soldiers’ leadership skills, which add value to the Army, the civilian workforce, and its communities. The Army Reserve Private Public Partnership assists Soldiers with their civilian careers and professional development resulting in a highly skilled employee who makes immediate and meaningful contributions in the civilian workforce.
