The Major General Robert Smalls, Logistics Support Vessel 8, maneuvers into Port Ponce, Puerto Rico, Aug. 22, for an ammunition resupply and retrograde mission in support of the Puerto Rican National Guard. The ship is manned by Army Reserve Soldiers from the 203rd Transportation Detachment, based in Baltimore. The Puerto Rican National Guard is receiving the ammunition for force protection and training. This joint mission is part of Nationwide Move 15 which included elements of the Army Reserve, National Guard, and active duty. NWM is an annual Army Reserve approved functional training exercise designed to provide Reserve component transportation units with valuable, realistic training by conducting real-world operations in support of Continental United States (CONUS) activities.
