ARABIAN GULF (Aug. 31, 2015) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Zebulon Petties guides an MH-60S helicopter from the “Blackjacks” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 as it lands on the flight deck of Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
