ARABIAN GULF (Aug. 31, 2015) Gas Turbine Systems (Mechanical) 3rd Class Tyler Markham from Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5 conducts maintenance on a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is the flagship of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
