Sgt. Hipolito Nieves, convoy patrol commander and member of Army's 1-65th Battalion, Charlie Company, overlooks Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, at a security checkpoint. The convoy patrol is used as a defensive posture to enforce security at Joint Task Force Command, Horn of Africa, enabling the command to concentrate on its diplomatic and developmental missions. Charlie Company consists of approximately 100 Puerto Rican infantry men and women, marking only the second time the Caribbean territory has provided security for CJTF-HOA. Nieves' hometown is Coamo, Puerto Rico.
