San Diego, Calif., native Brig. General Mark MacCarley, deputy commanding general of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, sits with Col. Fawaz Yousef Al Nasheet, the training commander of the Kuwaiti National Guard during a friendly soccer match between their units Oct 31 in Kuwait. The 1st Theater Sustainment Command soccer team was invited to the Kuwaiti base to play against the Kuwaiti National Guard Team, the champions of the Kuwaiti military league. "Today was a great opportunity for American Soldiers to spend time with their Kuwaiti counterparts by competing in a fun sporting event," said MacCarley. "We are very thankful for everything the Kuwaitis do for us, and feel it's important we spend time together to keep building on our already close friendship." The 1st TSC team was invited to Camp Tareer to play on the Kuwaiti's home field, which is regulation size and has grass, instead of the Army team's field, which is two-thirds the size and is all dirt. The Kuwaiti's won the match 7-0.
