Recruits of Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, jump rope during the Circuit Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Sept. 29. Jumping rope is an exercise that increases the heart rate to improve physical endurance. Today, all males west of the Mississippi are trained at MCRD San Diego. The depot is responsible for training more than 16,000 recruits annually. Mike Company is scheduled to graduate Dec. 11.
