U.S. Army Col. Vernon Simpson, the commander of Multinational Battle Group-East, thanks a Polish Army soldier for his participation in an Aug. 18, 2015, joint Administrative Boundary Patrol between Serbian and MNBG-E soldiers in northern Kosovo. The Polish soldiers are members of MNBG-E's Forward Command Post, all of which is part of NATO's Kosovo Force peace support mission in the region. The patrol was conducted by soldiers from KFOR and Serbia, and also included senior leaders from each organization. KFOR conducts these routine patrols as an impartial force, in cooperation with the Serbian military, in order to ensure compliance with U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement and maintain a secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo. Simpson is the commander of the North Carolina National Guard's 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, and assumed command of MNBG-E's mission in July 2015. (U.S. Army photo by Capt.
