Sgt. Maj. Lee Bonard, the sergeant major of III Marine Expeditionary Force, answers the questions of small unit leaders after Lt. Gen. Lawrence Nicholson, the commanding general of III MEF, briefs them of his focus and goals for III MEF at Anderson Hall aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii Oct. 29, 2015. “We’re not here to hear just the good stuff,” Bonard said. “We’re here to make your lives better and fix problems.” Using the chance to hear the direct focus and intent from the commanding general and sergeant major, many Marines brought pens and notepads to ensure they got every word. “We’re going to get back to moving and shaking,” Bonard concluded. “That’s how we are and what we need to be, we need to be very fluid. If we’re moving around a lot we need to be able to operate with limited gear.”
