Maj. Charla Gaddy, with U.S. Army Medical Research Unit-Kenya, passes a personalized surgical gown to Sostenes D. Ntambuto of the Nahimbili School of Medical Laboratory Services Tanzania, one of the 20 malaria microscopy students, during registration Nov. 23, in the classroom of the National Reference Laboratory and Quality Assurance Training Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. U.S. Africa Command's Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Medical Research Unit-Kenya and their Kenyan partners, the Kenya Medical Research Institute, are conducting a medical engagement to provide a two-week basic malaria microscopy training, Nov. 23 through Dec. 4, 2009, to medical laboratory technologists from Tanga Region, Tanzania. The U.S. President's Malaria Initiative-Tanzania is also facilitating the training.
