Jessica Brasseal, a graduate of Blind Industries and Services of Maryland’s (BISM) Ability One training and rehabilitation programs for the blind and now an employee of BISM’s Base Supply Center on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), speaks to an assembly of the store’s customers during an Oct. 27 ceremony recognizing BISM’s 20-year relationship with the base. Brasseal spoke to the win-win nature of the program and how it provides people like herself the opportunity to learn independent living and vocational skills as well as job opportunities while providing government customers the quality products they need from a convenient location, and in turn creates an awareness of and positive attitudes about blindness. Brasseal is a native of Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada now living in Temple Hills, Md.
