Sgt. Wesley Owens, a native of Taylorsville, Miss., inspects the Rhino on his Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected gun truck – a boom-mounted device designed to trigger certain types of improvised explosive devices in front of the vehicle, thus protecting the crew – in the Convoy Readiness Center yard, Nov. 31. Owens drives the "bump truck," a standby vehicle for A Company, 106th Brigade Support Battalion, out of Magee, Miss., and attached to 2nd Battalion, 198th Combined Arms, headquartered in Senatobia, Miss. Owens was ready to handoff his gun truck to a crew of 1st Platoon if they had vehicle problems before leaving on a convoy security mission to Forward Operating Base Sykes.
