Ray Rippel, director of the unaccompanied personnel housing division, reminisces over the pages of his new book at the Five Palms Hotel aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii Nov. 4, 2015. Rippel spent the last 15 years writing the book of the Mokapu Peninsula and finally released it Oct. 29, 2015. “I wanted to know more about (the peninsula) but there wasn’t a book that could tell me so I decided to write about it,” he said.
