Ray Rippel, director of the unaccompanied personnel housing division, took this photo and used it in his new book which was released Oct. 29, 2015, at the Officer’s Club aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The avid photographer has traveled to many places: Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Korea, Italy, Ireland, and Tokyo, but it was the lush green land and softly rippling beaches of the Mokapu Peninsula that attracted him the most.
