Nate Boyer, a former Special Forces Soldier and a San Francisco native, shares his story with the All-American players, band members and their families at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Jan. 7. Boyer, formerly a Special Forces communications sergeant, joined the Texas Longhorns as a walk-on with no prior experience. “This should just be the beginning,” he said during his motivational speech to the All-Americans. “Take this moment as a stepping stone.” The U.S. Army All-American Bowl has 215 alumni currently playing in the NFL.
