Lt. Col. Kerry Goodman (left), commander of 2nd Battalion, 198th Combined Arms, out of Senatobia, Miss., and a Quitman, Miss., native residing in Meridian, Miss., has just awarded an Army Achievement Medal to Staff Sgt. Donavan Smith (right) - a Taylorsville, Miss., native and non-commissioned officer in charge of maintenance with A Company, 106th Brigade Support Battalion, headquartered in Magee, Miss., and attached to 2/198th CAB - during a ceremony in the A Company motor pool, Dec. 11. Goodman awarded Smith an impact award for outstanding actions during a convoy escort mission. For the same action, Smith was chosen Task Force Marne Hero of the North on Dec. 20, for which he received a letter of recognition from Brig. Gen. Patrick J. Donahue, II, Deputy Commanding General of the 3rd Infantry Division Dec. 30.
