This specialized cadre of technical experts in engine repair, electrical engineering and damage control perform maintenance of Coast Guard cutters and smaller boats based in Boston and throughout New England. The team has the capability to service ice breaking Coast Guard cutters manned by active-duty crews, which are busy in the winter months keeping waterways open so crucial supplies of home heating fuel and other commodities can safely reach port. February 19 is the 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, which has a long tradition of supporting active duty members of the Coast Guard.
